Since this is Oppo, I’m going to go out on a limb and assume at least some of you on here own a tire pressure gauge. What do you guys recommend?

Found this on Amazon with good reviews and a decent price. Looks like there is a hammer and seat belt cutter as well which would be a nice extra safety thing to have in the car.

Make sure it’s digital if you don’t want to be running over medians and shit.

HAHA! Well played. Well played. I should’ve seen that one coming but I didn’t. Surprisingly the linked one is digital. Don’t wanna be off by 0.3 psi now do I?

I like a bigass analog one, currently an arb

I just use my inflator:

Kinja'd!!!

It’s not a high quality item, but I paid less than $20 for it, so good enough. The gauge part comes off and can be used separately, but the batteries have been dead for a while (IIRC, it has a little stack of button cells or something annoying), so I just use the whole unit plugged in to the cigarette lighter.

On the plus side, if you don’t like your tire pressure, you can do something about it.

I was looking for a big analog one but since they’re the same price as a digital one I figure why not go digital?

Damn that’s a good idea. The closest gas station is enough to warm up my tires. And I figure if it’s not a whole trip to the gas station I’d be less lazy about checking my tire pressures more often.

If you’re going analog (which I always do), get one that looks like this. They have them for like 7 or 8 bucks by the cash register at O’Reilly’s. I have one in the glove box of each of my 11 cars, and they seem to work fine.

I’ll second that. My favorite is one I bought over twenty years ago. Big analog dial wrapped in a rubberized coating with about a foot long hose. I usually keep a digital one in the door of my car but the batteries are now dead thanks to the two LED flashlights and an off switch that has to be set in the middle position. No such problem with the analog monster.

Looks like I’ll have to stop by O’Reilly’s this weekend then.

It’s a handy device. The downside is that “real” pumps (if they are well maintained) will generally be better at condensing water out of the air, so you may end up with more water vapor in your tire if you fill in high humidity conditions. With dry air, it shouldn’t make much difference though, and really when you’re only adding a few PSI, you’re not likely pumping in that much moisture to begin with.

Well, a pressure gauge is so simple that any will do, really. Going for the top-rated one on Amazon as you did would seem to be all you need to do.

As for digi vs analogue, I’d say the OG technology has the edge here. A traditional gauge would still work a thousand years from now, I doubt a digi would. Also electronics, even simple ones, don’t like extremes of heat or cold.

I like this one because I’ve found it to be quite accurate and durable in a professional shop setting, no batteries to change, and it’s got a nice little ergonomically located bleeder valve on the side. Sometimes the digital ones can lose accuracy as they age or when the batteries are nearly depleted.

As it happens, I’ve just bought one for €6 in Halfords. How they can do them for that little I’ve no idea.

I have a mix of them, depending what I’m doing or where I’m going. For my weekly pressure check, I use a free analog one I got from Firestone, which goes up to 60psi and is amazingly accurate. When I’m hauling or will be around anything over (and including) an F-250 I use an old-ish, sturdy, analog one that goes up to 175psi (!) and is also accurate, but harder to read. I wish I knew what the brand is because it feels just so good to use, and I found it in a junkyard F-100 years and years ago.

Easy to read, always pretty accurate, and secures onto the valve so you dont have to worry about anything when youre checking quickly.

I enjoy the simplicity of digital gauges. I also do not care about +/- 2 PSI of accuracy since it really is not going to make much of a difference. This is the one I have been using: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00…

It has a nice light on it for using it in the dark and it has made checking the tire pressure way easier than using those cheapo ones you find for $3 or so. Fits well in a small storage area of my Miata trunk.

All in one, accurate, easy to read, works when on compressor or not, easy to let air out.

Do people actually keep a seatbelt cutter/ window hammer in a crash-convenient place? If you have to cut your belt and/or smash a window to get out, the car is probably pretty bitched, anything in a cup holder or console is likely implanted in your passenger’s head or on the floor in the back just out of reach. I guess it’s one of those things that in the event you crash, and you can’t get out, and it’s still reachable, it could save your ass.

I’ll second 911e46z06 on his suggestion of the round analog gages. Like him I have one in each of my vehicles and one in the garage for checking tractor tires. They work well, don’t need batteries and some have little magnets on the back which is handy because I stick one to my metal shelving in the garage.

What if I told you that yacht has:

“Two 1,800 horsepower (1,300 kW) Deutz engines running at 1,800 rpm with a top speed of 20 kn (23 mph; 37 km/h) with minimal wave-making and virtually no vibration or noise and with a smooth and non-turbulent wake.”
